Senior Campaign Project
BARE, a Social Media Platform
For my Senior Campaign Project, the mission was to create a safe environment online that empowers people to stay socially connected while being their authentic selves. With this project I created a logo, identity, infographic, print ads, an app, a website, and a brand guide.
Social media apps influence users to trust in fake news, spend excessive amounts of time on the apps, and think negatively of their body image. BARE provides a stamp of authenticity on each picture post that was taken through the app. This lets other followers know that nothing has been edited, photoshopped, or stolen from another person. BARE does not keep any of the users data that was not given, so users can feel safe navigating the social web. Notifications are minimal to lessen the chances of internet addiction. The follower and following count on people's profile is hidden to all users to avoid any competition between others for popularity.
Sign Up Screens
The sign up process for BARE is easy to do with a simple step by step process. Users do not have to provide as much information as other social media platforms, so users can feel more protected with their information.
Home Screen and Profile Pages
The home screen has a simple horizontal scroll with minimal content except for posts. When posts are tapped, more content will show. This allows for a clean easy to use setup. Profile pages show a large profile picture larger than the posts to make the user easier to identify than other social medias. A vertical scroll is used to look at other users posts on their profile.
Onboarding Screens
The onboarding screens show the splash screen, an introduction to the app, and then the process to signing up for the app.
Website
The website for BARE is solely used to inform users about the current issues of social media, and how BARE is created to be safe and healthy whilst keeping the positives that social media already has. People can learn about the platform, help build awareness about other social media platforms, and even contact the company.
Infographic
Through the use of the infographic, awareness to the dangers of current social medias can rise. This can help build popularity for the BARE social media as well as change the design motives of others.
